The Surpil story, and that of the Stackable Furniture Company is first and foremost that of a French inventor, Julien-Henri Porché.
Julien-Henri Porché started designing furniture in 1927, his aim was to create chairs that were functional yet graceful + light.
The Surpil chair is at home anywhere. It was first exhibited in 1929 at the Autumn Fair in Paris alongside the work of other Avant Garde designers like Marcel Breuer.
This remarkably simple yet effective design ensures strength, comfort + functionality, as they are stackable!
